For those of you who are not familiar with Martin Denny he was (and still is) the most well known exponent of exotica / lounge music in history, releasing over 50 albums and compilations in a career that lasted into his 80's. He may have based himself in Hawaii but Denny's musical influences (and instruments) were vast, ranging from South American to African and Middle Eastern.
Some of the songs on this album are upbeat and frantic while others are the kind of thing you might here in a high class department store. You could call it challenging easy listening. There is plenty of fun to be had, such as on "Day Delight" and the wonderful cover version of "Misirlou" making this a good starting point for anyone keen to explore the wonderful world of exotica.
