The private eye t.v show was a staple in the United States for much of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's and this explains why there is such a wealth of music available to be collected. The nature of the genre lent itself to theme songs packed with excitement, drama and intrigue and these are the qualities that make many of the songs here timeless.  Their impact has reached far and wide, for instance my first exposure to "Peter Gunn" was through the Commodore 64 game Spyhunter.

The mainstays of the soundtrack biz are here in the form of Schifrin, Mancini and Post. The highlights from the other composers include the driving funk of "Vegas", the swinging "Wild Honey" and the wacky voice overs from "Charlies Angels" and "Hart To Hart".  There is plenty for everybody on this excellent compilation.

Yeah I know, it's a shame about the bitrate. Got both the albums from the same source so it's a bit weird. Still, it kind of suits the audio quality you would have experienced while listening to these themes on t.v in the 60's/70's.
