BRIAN BENNETT - VOYAGE (A JOURNEY INTO DISCOID FUNK)

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zw7nq5m2o3x21d5

Track 1 - Voyage
Track 2 - Solstice
Track 3 - Chain Reaction
Track 4 - Pedulum Force
Track 5 - Air Quake
Track 6 - Ocean Glide

This is the original source of the music from Bruton BRI 10 "Fantasia" put out under Brian Bennett's own name, however there are some small differences between the two records. Firstly "A New World" is not included on this album which is a bit of a shame because even though it didn't fit that well into the collection it was still a good listen. Secondly, there is a short intro track called "Voyage" included here and finally, the songs are given different names and vary in length slightly compared to the Bruton release. Apart from that the only other difference is the much cooler cover art featured on this record.

  1. My all time favourite Brian Bennett album and one of the best cosmic/space disco albums of the 70s both sonically and visually speaking...in the realm of space disco, compared to the French, German and Italians, the UK is in a minor league but in terms of quality over quantity, this album nails it and
I never tire of listening to it...

One thing though, it is the 'Voyage (A Journey Into Discoid Funk)' album on DJM Records (DJF 20532 UK) that is the original release and the Fantasia album on Bruton that is the reissue. Voyage came out in 1978 and Fantasia in 1980 (there has been a 2010 bootleg reissue of Voyage.. so maybe that is where the confusion lies).

For anyone who doesnt want to sit down with both releases and sort out the similarities and differences, this is what I came up with:

Brian Bennett - Voyage (A Journey Into Discoid Funk)
    Label:DJM Records
    Catalog#:DJF 20532
    Format:Vinyl, LP, Album, Gatefold Cover
    Country:UK
    Released:1978

    Tracklist:
    A1 Voyage
    A2 Solstice
    A3 Chain Reaction
    B1 Pendulum Force
    B2 Air Quake
    B3 Ocean Glide

Re-released in 1980 with different title and track names:

    Brian Bennett - Fantasia
    Label:Bruton Music
    Catalog#:BRI 10
    Format:Vinyl, LP
    Country:UK
    Released:1980

    Tracklist:
    A1 Fantastic Journey (Solstice)
A2 Discovery (Chain Reaction with slightly different ending)
A3 Shuttlecraft (Pendulum Force with longer introduction)
    B1 Cloning (Air Quake)
B2 Tracer (Ocean Glide with a couple of seconds shorter introduction)
    B3 A New World 6:34*

*New track not on the original release, it replaces 'Voyage' which appears on the original release only. I assume the track was part of the original session but was left out because like you wrote, it doesnt really "fit" though why it was included to the exclusion of the micro-bliss hit of 'Voyage' is beyond me...I get that the cover did not conform to the Bruton aesthetic but why mess with anything else? Brian...if you are listening, we are all ears....! ;)

  2. Wow, that's a rather comprehensive message. Thanks for pointing out the mistake about the release dates, I had misread the information at

I agree that it's some of Brian's best work. I'll be putting up a few more albums by him in the next few months. Cheers.
